The San Carlos Fine Arts Association was founded in 1972 by a group of local artists who enjoy sharing their work, learning new techniques, and networking. We have 70 members whose interests include studio as well as plein air work. The range of media is virtually unlimited: charcoal, pastels, watercolor, oils, mixed media, sculpting, jewelry making, photography and more. Our members vary from beginning artists to prize winners at the state and regional levels.

The SCFAA meets on the first Monday of each month. Our meetings feature an exhibit of recent work, a popular vote contest, and a guest artist. Once a year we have a group demonstration by our members. There is also an annual live model drawing session and/or a critique by a professional exhibit judge, author or instructor.

Each year we hold one or two large exhibits. The Spring Show has a professional judge who awards monetary and ribbon prizes. The Fall Show has a popular vote, with a monetary award to the winner. Our activities are self-funded, but we try to keep artists' costs to a minimum.

We also participate in community events such as the San Carlos Hometown Days, and San Carlos Art Walk; and once a year we provide or contribute to a children's activity. We also offer "Art on Loan" to supply local businesses with artwork. We try to sponsor one workshop a year, and we post information about classes, exhibits and workshops sponsored by other organizations.
